There is disquiet in the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the Supreme Court of Nigeria in its judgement on Monday affirmed the candidacy of Chijioke Edeoga as the Labour Party governorship candidate for Enugu State.

The apex court declared Edeoga as the authentic governorship candidate of the party in the state.

Edeoga’s candidature was challenged by Everestus Nnaji.

The judgement follows an earlier verdict from a Federal High Court in Abuja ordering a fresh primary election in the party.

But Edeoga went further to challenge the High Court’s judgment at the Appeal Court and won.

However, Nnaji proceeded to the Supreme Court to reverse the Appellate Court’s judgement, but it didn’t go in his favour.

The apex court however ruled in favour of Edeoga when it affirmed him as the authentic candidate of the party in the state.

This is ccoming as virtually all PDP candidates in Enugu State lost their election bid to the National Assembly as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declared Labour Party candidates for National Assembly winners.

The people of Enugu State who reacted to the ruling expressed readiness to send the Labour Party governorship candidate to the Lion Building Enugu on March 11, 2023.
