Immediate past Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has revealed that the person who nominated Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from the camp of the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

In a viral video obtained Amaechi a former two-term governor of Rivers State who contested the presidential primary alongside Tinubu in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) also said he was one of those who opposed the reappointment of the INEC Chairman by President Muhammadu Buhari.

In his words “I am not the president. I have spoken with everybody concerned before the election. There are those of us who opposed the reappointment of Mahmood Yakubu as INEC chairman. The person who nominated him for the appointment is a member of Tinubu’s camp. So what are you expecting? Success?”

Also speaking on the election in Rivers state, Amaechi said “Here in Rivers State, Mahmood worked under (Governor Nyesom) Wike as Executive Secretary of TETFUND so what you see here in Rivers state is that APC, SDP and the rest are contesting election not against PDP – against INEC, against police.”
