NWC Crisis: APC Sets Up Five-man Reconciliation Committee
Amid allegations of lack of transparency against Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore, national chairman and secretary, respectively of the All Progressives Congress, the Party National Working Committee (NWC) has set up a five-man investigative and reconciliation committee.
The committee is to be led by the party’s Deputy National Chairman (North), Abubakar Kyari.
The team has the National Chairman (South), Emma Eneukwu, National Vice Chairman South East, Ijeomah Arodiogbu, and the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka as members.
The National Vice Chairman, North West of the party, Salihu Lukman had in a statement on Monday spoke on “APC and Questions of Progressive Credentials”, where the immediate past Director General of the Progressive Governors Forum accused the party national chairman of usurping the functions of other statutory organs of the governing party.
The reconciliation team will meet with Senators Adamu and Omisore for their defence on the allegations leveled against them.
The five-man team, it was gathered, met with Lukman on Wednesday for over two hours for him to make elaborate submissions on the alleged infractions by the two leading members of the NWC.
The core objective of the reconciliation team borders on resolving all the differences towards promoting warm relationships at the party’s national secretariat.
The party source said, “We have set up a five-man committee to wade into the crisis, look into the allegations raised to essentially see how it can be mitigated. We are aware that allowing it to fester further, boils down to opening flanks at the end of the day, which if not plucked may put the party in jeopardy.
“That it even degenerated to this extent is a confirmation of leadership failure of our party. No duration limit was given to the committee, but they were charged to thoroughly investigate and find an amicable solution to the crisis. We want to see how it can be resolved in an atmosphere that can give every aggrieved person comfort.
“Such situation could worsen, especially when the issue is an internal battle involving members of the NWC.
“I am also aware that Salihu Lukman has tabled his minimum demands that things must be run in accordance with the Constitution of the party and that accountability must not be compromised again. They also know that Lukman is a person you can ignore or you do so at your own peril”, the source said.
