Corruption: CSOs Wants Immediate Arrest And Prosecution of FCTA DOAS Director
An amalgamation of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) under the aegis of the Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Peace, Security, Good Governance, Equity and Justice has deployed the alleged criminal activities of Dr. Babagana Adams, the FCT Director of the Department of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage (DOAS) over allegations of mismanagement and theft of public funds.
In a press statement made available to journalists in Abuja by the Coalition’s National Coordinator, Comrade James Okoronkwo and Secretary, Sir Ude Ejikeme respectively, the CSOs lamented that at a time the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is suffering from paucity of funds, Dr. Babagana Adams, FCTA DOAS Director and his collaborators are dipping their hands into the public till.
Continuing, the anti-corruption Coalition charged the anti-graft agencies to immediately arrest and prosecute Dr. Babagana Adams, the FCT Director of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage for gross abuse of public office and official corruption lamenting that Dr. Babagana Adams, a veterinary doctor has no business overseeing outdoor advertisement and signage in the federal capital territory saying that “our investigations revealed that he lacks the experience and pedigree to occupy such an exalted office”.
Furthermore, the advocacy group called for his immediate sack from office. In the same vein, the group lampooned Dr. Babagana Adams, the DOAS Director for frustrating revenue generation in the Abuja Municipal Area Council by smearing the image of Mr. Donald Amagbo, the official AMAC Technical Director charged with overseeing outdoor advertisement and Signage by labelling him “revenue impostor” which is the height of unprofessionalism and character assassination.
The Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Peace, Security, Good Governance, Equity and Justice warned FCTA DOAS Director, Dr. Babagana Adams to leave the executive director of Takushara Nigeria Limited, ADM Media Limited Joint Venture, Mr. Donald Amagbo alone.
The group noted that the FCT Department of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage is an illegal establishment and must refrain from discrediting AMAC officials empowered by the law to generate revenue.
The anti-corruption advocacy group implored the FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammad Musa Bello to disband the FCT Department of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage alleging that the permanent secretary (FCT) is aiding and abetting Dr. Babagana Adams.
The group further noted that FCT High Court sitting in Nyanya in Suit No. FCT/HC/NY/CV/1095/2019 in its judgment delivered by Hon. Justice Muawiyah Baba Idris disbanded the FCT Department of Outdoor and Signage.
The group urged the FCT Minister to obey the court judgment by immediately disbanding the illegal FCT Department of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage.
The Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Peace, Security, Good Governance, Equity and Justice recalled that the former minister of the FCT, Mr. Balla Mohammed towed the path of justice and honour when a court baned the FCT Park and Pay Scheme, urging the current minister to do likewise with the FCT Department of Outdoor Advertisement and Signage.
