Alhaji Mohammed Nma Kolo, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State has called on politicians and leaders in the North Central geopolitical zone of Nigeria to act to harness the immense potentials endowed in the zone.
Nma Kolo made the call in Minna while hosting a delegation of the North Central Forum for Progressive Youths who were in Minna in continuation of consultations with critical stakeholders on how best to consolidate the gains of democracy for the benefit of the zone.
Head of the delegation, Munnir Tijjani said they chose to visit Nma Kolo in recognition of his contributions and concern for the welfare of the youth.
Explaining their mission, Tijjani said they are seeking meaningful collaboration towards consolidating the democratic potentials of the North Central in view of the electoral value the region has added especially during the last general elections.
Responding, Nma Kolo described the move as commendable initiative by young people from the North Central, of all faith and all ethnic groups who feel they have a major role to play in rescuing the zone from the margins of irrelevance, impotence, inconsequence and decay in the context of the Nigerian nation which currently runs on the basis of values and practices that need to be understood, adapt to or create alternatives that suit the cultures, circumstances and interests of the entire North Central zone.
“As youths who have shown a commitment to the goals and ideals of developing our North Central zone, I will start by advising you to familiarize yourselves with the goals of exemplary leaders in our midst and accept to live with them,” he said.
He particularly referred the visiting youths to such political leaders in the zone as Senator Mohammed Sani Musa from Niger State leadership, sacrifice and commitment to the overall development of North Central, he said, knows no bounds.
He described Senator Musa as a passionate believer of the organic links between generations who is always available for young people with deep concerns for the overall progress of the North Central zone.
“I finally want to thank you for honouring me with this privileged visit to speak that holds much promise in keeping our youth focused and disciplined in the pursuit of edifying goals and living with values that define the character of the North Central,” Kolo concluded.
On her part, the Secretary of the group, Liatu Katung from Kaduna state agreed with Nma Kolo that Senator Musa is indeed a great statesman.
“During our several interactions with Senator Musa, we have come to see him as a mentor, a guardian, a living history and an embodiment of all the exemplary qualities young aspiring leaders should strive to achieve,” she said.
