Sunday Musings: Who Exactly Is The “Only Begotten Son Of God”?

Spread the love

More than three thousand years before Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem, approximately 3,228 years prior, Lord Krishna, a Hindu god was already born of a virgin named, Devaki, in Mathura, India.

In the story of Krishna, as recorded in their holy book, the “Bhagavad Gita”, which also predates the Holy Bible, Krishna is the agent of conception and also the offspring. That means the father and the son are one.

Because of his sympathy for the Earth and to save the Earth from unrighteousness, the divine Vishnu himself (God), descended into the womb of a virgin, Devaki and was born as her son, Krishna. Just like God descended into the womb of virgin Mary and was born as her son, Jesus.

Both are believed by their followers to be sons of God, since they were divinely conceived. The birth of both Jesus of Nazareth and Krishna of Dwarka, as he was called, and their God designed missions were foretold by prophets. Both were born at unusual places; Christ in a lowly manger and Krishna in a prison cell. Evil pursued and attempted to kill both of them and thwart their divine missions in vain.

In Revelation 13:22, the Bible describes Christ as: “Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end…” Also in the Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 10:32, Krishna said of himself: “Of all creations, I am the Beginning and the End and also the Middle.”

In John 14:6, Jesus describes himself as the Way, Truth and Life.

In the Gita, Lord Krishna said of himself, “I am the WAY, come to Me…” In Chapter 10:32, he says: “I am the conclusive TRUTH. In Chapter 10:22, Krishna says: “I am the LIVING FORCE.”

The notion of virgin births is neither novel nor exclusive to Jesus and Krishna alone. There are extant stories that Gautama Buddha was actually born of a virgin called Maya. Siam had a savior called Codom, who was born of a virgin. Some records also claim that Horus was born of the virgin Isis. Likewise Zoroaster of Persia was born of a virgin, after the mother was impregnated by divine light which descended on her.

Even Cyrus, King of Persia was said to be of divine origin. He was referred to as, “Christ, the anointed son of God.” Don’t forget Christ is a title and not a name. Even Plato of the 5th century BC was thought by many of the populace to be a divine Son of God. His mother was said to be a virgin called Perictione. The Mayans of Yucatan had a virgin born god that was named Zamma. This name means “only begotten son of a supreme God.”

Now I have three questions.

  1. Who exactly is the true “only begotten son of God” from amongst all these virgin births and how did you conclude that the virgin birth which you believe is the authentic one if you doubt others?
  2. Why should anyone not conclude that the writers of the Bible just plagiarized the stories of previous virgin births, modified them and pasted?
  3. Why does anyone feel that it is most beneficial to accept the Bible story of virgin birth which is one of the newest and not accept others which are thousands of years older, that is if I must accept any at all?

So why don’t you choose your own God and worship that God and stop telling others if they don’t choose yours, they are going to HELL?

Happy Sunday!

Yours sincerely,
Citizen Agba Jalingo.
