LP Crisis: CSOs Express Confidence In Labour Party Conflict Resolution & Security Committee To End Disputes
Following the phenomenal success recorded by the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general election, a prominent amalgamation of civil society organisations (CSOs), under the aegis of the Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Peace, Security, Good Governance, Equity and Justice, has lauded the giant strides so far recorded by the party’s Conflict Resolution and Security Committee headed by retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Dr Charles Agumuo.
The CSOs expressed confidence in the ability of the committee to settle all conflicts within the party and bring all aggrieved members to a roundtable to ensure amicable resolution of issues leading to the ongoing crisis in the party.
Recall that the party has been embroiled in leadership conflict since after the 2023 general elections.
In a chat with the national coordinator of the Coalition, Comrade James Okoronkwo, the CSOs told newsmen that from their findings, the committee is poised to resolve all the internal crisis bedeviling the party before and after the elections.
The Coalition said that a source within the party had disclosed to the civil society groups that the “remarkable success recorded by the Labour Party has attracted jealousy, arguments, intrigues and other negative motives to destabilize the party and frustrate her efforts from reclaiming her stolen mandate.”
Continuing, the source, according to Comrade Okoronkwo, observed that “the committee is determined to bring all the aggrieved LP members together.
The civil society organisations (CSOs) then commended the committee for their resolve, just as it commended the youthful supporters of Peter Obi and Labour Party for being law-abiding in their quest to reclaim the mandate give to the presidential candidate of the party, Peter Obi during the February 25 presidential election.
