Emulate Niger State’s Spirit of Sportsmanship, Accept Obvious Defeat in Good Faith — APC Chieftain To Politicians
Politicians in Nigeria have been charged to adopt the Niger state’s model of accepting defeat in good faith in line with the spirit of togetherness and sportsmanship.
Special Adviser, Political and Strategy to the Niger State Governor, Muhammad Nma Kolo, Jawon Minna, made the charge while interacting with newsmen in Minna.
Nma Kolo said that other states in the country should put into practice the spirit of love, oneness and collective responsibility usually demonstrated by politicians in Niger state who without regards to political differences always consider the state first above their personal interest.
According to him, this has been demonstrated during the last gubernatorial elections in Niger state when the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Gubernatorial candidate, Isa Liman Kantigi congratulated the winner of the election, Mohammed Umar Bago of the All Progressives Congress APC even before results were announced by INEC.
This, according to him, is the modern politics we are talking about that is devoid of rancour and acrimony for the good of all.
Kolo further explained that Niger state is also among the few states in Nigeria that does not have any court case arising from the outcome of the just concluded governorship election.
He however pointed out that to all Nigerlites, politics is a game of number and a step towards entrenching credible candidates to pilot the affairs of the state for maximum benefit but not as a do or i die Affairs.
The special adviser also appealed to the people of Niger state to support the administration of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago to succeed.
