The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on Friday, confirmed the appointment of the immediate-past Governor of Kano, Abdullahi Ganduje as National Chairman of the party.
It also appointed Senator Basiru Ajibola as National Secretary.
Recall that the Deputy National Chairman (North) of APC, Senator Abubakar Kyari, was name the Acting National Chairman of the party following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the party’s Chairman a National Working Committee (NWC) meeting in Abuja recently.
Briefing reporters after the NWC meeting, Kyari formally announced the resignation of Adamu and Senator Iyiola Omisore as the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary respectively.
Kyari had further said that in line with the constitution of the party, the Deputy National Secretary, Festus Fuanter, will serve as the acting National Secretary of the APC.
There has been rumours that the former Governor of Kano State was set to be named the National Chairman of the APC, which has now been confirmed.
