Why Governor Uba Sani Shouldn’t Be Dragged Into El-Rufai’s Replacement Nomination Saga — APC chieftain
A prominent chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kaduna, Hajiya Bilkisu Gidado, has advised party faithfuls to refrain from dragging Governor Uba Sani into the recent nomination of Nasir El-Rufai’s ministerial replacement.
While speaking with newsmen on Friday, she dismissed rumours of Governor Uba Sani expressing preferences for candidates, saying the governor had never engaged in such discussions.
Gidado clarified that those suggesting Governor Uba Sani’s dissatisfaction with the nomination are not being fair, as the governor and the former governor share a strong friendship.
She highlighted that both the potential nominees, Hamisu Abubakar Mai Rago and Jafaru Sani are dedicated APC members who contributed significantly to the party’s success in the previous election.
Gidado stressed that thus whoever emerges should be seen as a matter of destiny and divine will.
She emphasised the need for unity and understanding among politicians during this time, cautioning politicians to desist from spreading falsehood against Governor Uba Sani on the issue.
Hajiya Bilkisu Gidado, a strong loyalist and supporter of Governor Uba Sani, urged all APC members to rally behind the party’s chosen nominee, irrespective of their political zone.
She underlined that the goal is to foster party unity and benefit the state, saying, the former governor’s achievements in urban development and governance, can’t be swept under the carpet, thus his widespread support for his national appointment.
She called upon the state’s citizens to pray for and support Governor Uba Sani’s policies, ensuring that they would be inclusive and non-discriminatory.
