Feb. 25 Presidential Polls: PEPT Sets Date For Verdict on Fate Of Tinubu, Obi, Atiku, Ojei
The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) has reportedly set the last day allowed by law to determine the faith of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the February 25, 2023 Presidential election; Peter Obi, the candidate of Labour Party (LP); and Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A matter also for determination is the suit by the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, Princess Chichi Ojei.
The PDP, LP, APM and their presidential candidates, respectively, against the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election.
The suits are Justice Haruna Simon Tsamani-led PEPT in Abuja.
The tribunal, by law, has up till September 16, 2023, to deliver its judgment in the cases.
However, reports say that the Tribunal has fixed Saturday, September 16, the last date by constitutional provisions, as the date to deliver its final ruling on the outcome of the 2023 presidential election.
The Street Reporters Newspaper is yet to independently confirm the date at press time as the tribunal is yet to make an official statement on the date to deliver its ruling on the pending cases.
