Team MBM Political Movement, a formidable grassroots political group has met with the Director General, Kogi State Government House Administration, Dr. Umar Shuaibu Oricha, at the Government House, Lokoja.
The group, led by Mallam Bello Muhammed, popularly known as MBM in the state, comprised of delegates drawn from across the three Senatorial Districts of Kogi State and from each of the local government areas of the state.
Team MBM are members of the opposition political parties in the state, mainly from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), YPP, and some aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) members who had pinched tents with different opposition parties, especially the SDP.
MBM, an architect by training, who has played opposition politics since he joined politics years ago, said he has mobilised members his political movement and allies from across but needed to meet the Director General to be sure of his next move.
According to Arc Bello, he was inspired to seek ways to support the governorship candidate of the APC by Dr Oricha’s impacts on the lives of needy Kogites and the good works of the incumbent Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.
“Sir, the reason why we’re here today is to tell you that because of what His Excellency has been doing and what you, in person, have displayed in good character we’re going to align with you, by the special grace of God, to deliver the mandate of Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo”, the leader of the delegation assured.
Dr. Oricha, a retired permanent secretary, who welcomed the delegates, pledged his full support for the group.
The Director General narrated how he started politics forty years ago, noting that Governor Yahaya Bello administration is on top of the security situation in Kogi State.
The sixty-three year old politician said, “the issue of politics is in me and anywhere I stand, I stand.
“Luckily for me, I didn’t do a very dirty opposition. Anything I want to do, I will always want to be factual.
“I think I see that quality in your leader here because he has been doing opposition and very constructive for that matter.
“But he has seen that in doing this opposition, now, let me think back; in Kogi State, development is there, peace is there, and His Excellency is on top of the security situation in Kogi State.
“Unless occasionally you see pockets of guerrilla kidnapping here and there on our road, you can’t see any serious kidnapping in Kogi State.
“In some states, a whole local government has been taken over by bandits; you can’t see that in Kogi State, no local government has been taken over by bandits.
“Innocent people are going about their normal life but the criminals have no place in Kogi State”, he said.
