The Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Transportation, Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji, has expressed his desire to have a good working relationship with the Ministry of Transportation.

Hon. Adewale made this disclosure during a familiarisation meeting with officials of the ministry at the Assembly complex on Friday.

Speaking shortly after the meeting, Adewale said the officials would soon be invited by the House for discussions on ways to solve all issues affecting the transportation sector.

“What we have done today was to inaugurate the committee and familiarise ourselves with the ministry, departments, and agencies. The Ministry of Transportation is saddled with the responsibility of making life easy for Lagosians through transportation.

“The issues that were raised at the meeting are the ones that have lingered for a while. Very soon, we will be making further requests for them to come back to the House for discussions and to find ways to solve all these issues we have been facing as raised by members of the House,” he said.

The lawmaker added that his committee expects to have a very good working relationship with the Commissioner of Transportation and other officials in the sector.

“He and the Special Adviser on Transportation are young men. I am very familiar with the workings of the ministry and I’m sure they understand the workings of the House.

“We look forward to a very wonderful working relationship with them and to ensure that we deliver the dividends of democracy to the people and Lagosians at large as always emphasised by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa,” he said.

He further stated that the committee has a lot of work to do, but expressed delight that with the Commissioner, the task would be easy.

“It is clear we have a lot to do. We have a Commissioner who is enlightened. He’s aware of the problems ranging from enforcement to funding and the development of our corridors.

“So, the takeaway from the meeting is that we know the ministry is eager to work and they are willing to abide by the rules and regulations of the transport reform laws to ensure that the transport sector improves and we give back to the people what they indeed need,” he said.
