CNPP Congratulates Usman Ododo On His Declaration As Kogi State Governor-elect
Conference Of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) has congratulated Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 11 governorship election in Imo State, on his declaration as Governor-elect.
In a statement signed by CNPP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, James Ezema, the umbrella association of all registered political parties and political associations in Nigeria noted that despite reported hitches and pockets of issues associated with the off-cycle governorship elections in the country, the peployment of electoral by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is commendable.”
Advising the Governor-elect to embrace all sections of the political and tribal devides in the state on assumption of office, the CNPP urged the incoming administration to address negative publicity against the state as matter of priority.
The CNPP noted that “reports of isolated cases of malpractices and attempted voters’ inducement, were immediately arrested by the anti-graft and other security agencies.
“Unfortunately, Kogi State has experienced years of negative publicity and the incoming administration, as a matter of priority, has a duty to reposition the state in the minds of the people.
“Therefore, the CNPP urges the incoming administration to carry all tribes and sections along and take actions that will better unite the people of the state.
“While we commend the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and all security agencies for the relatively peaceful conduct of the Kogi State governorship election on November 11, compared to the past governorship polls, the CNPP congratulates the state Governor-elect, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo on his victory”, the CNPP said.
The CNPP then urged any aggrieved party or individual to maintain the peace and explore all relevant legal processes for redress.
