Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa were among dignitaries that paid tribute to late Engr. Vincent Diai during a funeral mass for the deceased.

The funeral mass held at Christ the King Catholic Church, Idumuje-Ugboko in Aniocha North Local Government Area of the state was also attended by the President of the state Customary Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Catherine Ngozi Ojugbana-Orishedere, a retinue of judges and other top government functionaries.

In his homily during the mass, Revd. Fr. Samuel Ugonwanne said death was a necessary end to every mortal which, he said, may come at any time, adding that it is better to prepare for it by doing things that are pleasing to God.

Revd. Fr. Ugonwanne noted that death is a mystery, stressing that Christians should always endeavour to do good in life by using their positions to positively impact on the lives of people around them.

The priest who condoled the bereaved family, said nothing happened in life without God’s knowledge, adding that they should take solace in the fact that the late Engr. Diai knew God when he was alive.

According to him, amidst all medical discoveries and scientific breakthroughs in the world, nobody has been able to discover a cure for death hence the need for everybody to surrender to the supremacy of God.

He, therefore, prayed God to guide and protect the wife and children as well as the bereaved brothers and sisters of the deceased, even as he stressed the need for people to keep the Diai’s family in prayers.

“Nothing happens in life without God’s knowledge. Whether we like it or not, death will surely come. It is better we prepare for it because we do not know when it will come.

“Death is a mystery. Let us learn to do good in life. Whatever position you occupy in life, you should use it to impact positively on the lives of others.

“We should reach out to people with what God has blessed us with. The important thing that people will be remembered for is the lives of the people that they have touched.

“Life here on earth is very short. We should know God and be good to people. We should remember that dust we are and dust we shall all return,” Revd. Fr. Ugonwanne noted.

Speaking on behalf of members of the Diai’s family, Dr. Charles Diai expressed profound appreciation to the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori; his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa; top government functionaries and the Catholic Priests that celebrated the mass as well as friends and well-wishers of the family for standing with them in their moment of grief.

The late Engr. Diai was a younger brother to the Chief Judge of Delta State, Honourable Justice Theresa Diai.
