Edo 2024: VMCII, Obidient Movement Present LP’s Expression of Interest And Nomination Forms To Dr Loretta Ogboro-Okor
Ahead of the forthcoming Edo State governorship primary of Labour Party (LP), the Votes Must Count International Initiative (VMCII) in collaboration with the Obidient Movement Worldwide, has purchased and presented the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms to Dr Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor.
They also presented a beautifully branded campaign T-shirt to the aspirant.
Making the presentations to the female aspirant at the national headquarters of the party in Abuja on Saturday, the VMCII’s Country Director, Dr Barry Avoru Johnson 1st, declared that for the group and the Obidient Movement Worldwide, she is their “aspirant and we ask all obidients to join us to give her the best support as the best aspirant with the intelligence and pragmatic values of leadership needed in the transformation of Edo State.”
He said, “We use this privilege to present this forms to our obidient movement princess from Oredo local government area in Edo state, Dr Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor.”
Dr. Barry Avoru Johnson 1st described the aspirant as “a medical doctor by profession, a great wife of one man and a mother of children and indeed a sister, aunty, in-law, friend and partner in the Obidient Movement Worldwide.
“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen of the press, we officially, hereby present the labour party 2024 Edo State Governor expression of interest and nomination forms to Dr Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor, purchased by the VMCII in collaborations with the great obidient movement worldwide to sore like an eagle in this race and come out victorious by the support of the people for the good of democracy.”
The VMCII Country Director added that “this is presentable female personality that we have discovered to be a solid weapon for national development.
“Let’s give a woman the opportunity to become the Governor of Edo state so we can witness a new format of governance that is designed to provide basic amenities for the people which must cut across education, employment, security of lives and property coupled with creating good roads, cottage hospitals and social development in all it’s ramifications.
“Lastly we say congratulations to the great labour party under the able leadership of Barrister Julius Abure and his national excos who made this possible.
“We in the obidients movement worldwide have decided to partner with the labour party in presenting and supporting the best aspirants in every elections across bounds.
“This is another way we have created to making sure that the Nigerian woman has a strong level of participation in the politics of Nigeria.
“We must see the Nigerian woman providing service in politics as well as we have witnessed in the economic sector over the years”, Dr. Johnson 1st said.
In her acceptance speech, Dr Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor thanks the VMCII and the Obidient Movement Worldwide for the support, pledging to transform the state.
She noted that she has strong connections with the grassroots and has toured the entire state.
According to her, having lost her father while in the second year in the university, she followed her mother to the markets and she understands the pains of the ordinary Edo residents.
She vowed to transform the state through provision of basic education, provision of entrepreneurial clusters and deliberate investment in the health sector.
On his part, the National Publicity Secretary of Labour Party, Obiora Ifoh, reiterated the party’s resolve to conduct a free, fare and credible primary elections in the state by ensuring a level playing field.
Present at the presentation were Labour Party youths, Edo cultural troupe, and supporters of Dr Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor who freely sang, danced, and displayed banners of various sizes to welcome her at the party’s headquarters.
