Delta State Government has pledged to recover all Government lands illegally acquired by land grabbers across the state.
The Chairman, State Taskforce on Land Recovery and Outright
Demolition Committee, Chief Frank Omare made the pledge at a meeting with occupiers of landed property of the Dennis Osadebay University, Anwai-Asaba at Government House, Asaba.
Chief Omare said any building on the University land without Certificate of Occupancy would be demolished, pointing out that many people encroached on government lands without recourse to the law guiding land acquisition.
He warned that there would be no sacred cow in reclaiming government lands and advised anyone without C Of O to relocate as illegal structures in the affected areas would not be spared.
Chief Omare urged Deltans to ensure that they follow legal means before acquiring any land as defaulters will face unpleasant consequences.
The Vice Chancellor, Dennis Osadebay University, Anwai-Asaba, Professor Ben Oghojafor thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for constituting the committee to recover the land of the University encroached upon by illegal land speculators, pointing out that a lot of persons have built on government lands.
Prof Oghojafor debunked rumours that the school management was also involved in land racketeering, affirming that no effort would be spared in recovering the lands.
Some owners of properties illegally acquired appealed to the state government to tamper justice with mercy, adding that thorough investigation should be carried out to ascertain those with Certificate of Occupancy.
