Nigerian Actor & Director, Zack Orji’s Death Rumoured As AGN Fumes
Amid trending death rumour of the ailing Nigerian actor and film director, Zack Orji, the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has insisted that Nollywood actor is not dead.
The President of the Guild, Emeka Rollas, in an Instagram post wrote: “Mr Zack Orji is alive.
“Please ignore mischief makers who enjoy circulating fake news.
“This is to show how wicked some people can be. It is totally unacceptable.”
This follows rumours on social media on Tuesday morning that Nollywood legend is dead.
He added, “He will not die but live to declare the good works of God in Jesus’ name.”
Zack Orji was hospitalised earlier in the year after collapsing in Abuja.
He was later seen in a viral video bedridden and seemingly writhing in pain.
Zack has reportedly been grappling with fatigue for weeks, rendering him unable to talk or move.
Prominent Nigerians., including Remi Tinubu, the first lady and Nana Shettima, the wife of the vice president, have visited the ailing actor at the national hospital in Abuja.
Orji is a prominent name in Nollywood. He is renowned for his roles in films like ‘The Bridge’, ‘Glamour Girls’, and ‘Blood Money’.
The actor has starred in hundreds of movies. Beyond acting, Orji is also a director and film producer.
Orji was appointed a director of performing arts for the presidential campaign council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023.
During her visit to the actor in January 2024, the Minister of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, had called on Nigerians to rally behind the ailing Nollywood actor, Zack Orji, saying he had brain surgery on January 1, 2024.
Musawa made the appeal during her visit to the actor at a private hospital in Wuse, Abuja.
This information was contained in a statement by the minister’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Nneka Anibeze.
Expressing sympathy for the veteran actor’s family, Musawa had described him as a national asset and expressed confidence in his recovery.
