….Pass Vote of Confidence on Gov. Oborewori

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, has adopted Olorogun Jaro Egbo as its consensus aspirant for the Local Government elections scheduled for July this year.

The party also passed a vote of confidence on Delta State Governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his recognition of Ughelli sons and daughters for various political appointments and the people oriented projects in the area and other parts of the state.

The choice of Jaro Egbo was announced by a former Secretary to the State Government, Rt. Hon. Festus Agas, during a meeting of the party’s leaders and other stakeholders, hosted by the Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUPEB), Hon. Samuel Marierie, at his Evwreni country home, on Sunday.

Speaking during the meeting, Agas noted that the choice of Jaro Egbo was taken with a view to strengthen and better position the party at the local government for victory at both the local government polls and subsequent elections.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Local Government Caretaker Chairman of the party, Pastor Kesiena Nomuoja, commended all the chairmanship aspirants of the party for their interest and commitment towards the party, noting that they had made the party more popular and stronger in the local government area.

He disclosed that the purpose of the meeting was to brief members of the party on major upcoming political events in the state, particularly the forthcoming PDP congresses and the local government elections.

Also speaking, Chairman of the PDP Elders’ Council in Ughelli North, Surveyor Terry Noah, urged party faithful to abide by the decision of the party, pointing out that it was unanimous amongst them and taken in the best interest of the party.

In his acceptance remarks, Olorogun Jaro Egbo said he was pleasantly surprised by the decision of the party to adopt him as their chairmanship aspirant, pointing out that he never nurtured any ambition to contest for the position.

He, however, noted that since the party deemed him worthy, he was ready to work for its victory and the growth of the local government.

According to Egbo, although Ughelli North was one of the most complicated Local Government areas in the country, he had the capacity knowledge on how to move the council forward.

He called for the prayers and support of all those who had aspired for the position to ensure that the party became victorious in the forthcoming and subsequent elections and make the local government benefits from their wealth of experience.
