The Akwa Ibom State Police Command in its intensified effort to rid the state of criminal elements, has arrested an Ex-convict and recovered exhibits.
ASP Timfon John, the state Police Public Relations Officer, on behalf of the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner Of Police, explained in a statement on Thursday that at at about 14:00hrs on 05/06/2024, Police operatives of the command on crime prevention patrol arrested one Eddiong Anthony Matthew ‘M’, a 35-year-old indigene of Ikot Ekong Village in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area in half dress military camouflage.
According to the statement, “preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is an ex-convict who had been perpetrating series of crimes in the state in military uniform with a warrant officer rank.
“One walkie-talkie, phones suspected to have been stolen from his victims, a brown coverall dress, RCC ID Card were recovered. The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigation.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, CP Waheed Ayilara has reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment and dedication to making Akwa Ibom inhabitable for criminals”, the Police said.
The statement added that the Akwa Ibom Police Commissioner appreciated the good people of the state for their support to the Police.
“He urged members of the public to always report any suspicious act or movement to the Police”, the Command’s spokesperson said.
