On the historic occasion of Nigeria’s Democracy Day, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu delivered a stirring address to the nation, marking 25 years of uninterrupted democratic governance in the West African country.

In his speech, President Tinubu paid homage to the heroes of democracy who laid down their lives for the country’s freedom and emphasized the importance of sustaining democratic values.

Reflecting on the nation’s journey from military rule to becoming Africa’s most populous democracy, President Tinubu underscored the sacrifices made by figures like MKO Abiola, Kudirat Abiola, and General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua.

He honoured their memory and the contributions of pro-democracy activists, both at home and in exile, who fought tirelessly for the nation’s rights.

In a call to action, President Tinubu urged his fellow citizens to join him in building a united and prosperous Nigeria.

He outlined his commitment to protecting citizens’ rights and advancing vital economic reforms.

His vision for the future includes attention to education, creativity, and autonomy for universities, as he expressed his gratitude for the trust and democratic vision of the Nigerian people.

As the nation celebrated 25 years of democracy, President Tinubu’s speech was not just a reflection of the past but a roadmap for the future.

His words resonated with hope and determination, setting the tone for a new chapter in Nigeria’s democratic journey.
