Continental Students’ Movement Lauds Governor Sanwo-Olu for Strategic Appointment in Education Sector
In a significant nod to the value of student leadership, the All-Africa Students’ Union (AASU) has publicly commended Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the appointment of Comrade Kappo Olawale Samuel as the Senior Special Assistant on Students’ Union Affairs, Tertiary Education.
The commendation came through a heartfelt statement from Abrhaley Arefaine Hailenchael, the Executive Director to the Presidency of AASU, who described the appointment as a testament to Comrade Kappo’s distinguished track record in student unionism within Nigeria.
The President of AASU, HE Osisiogu Osikenyi Enyinnaya, conveyed through Hailenchael, “On behalf of the continental students’ movement, we extend our deepest gratitude to His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for recognizing the exemplary leadership of Comrade Kappo Olawale Samuel with this appointment.”
Reflecting on Comrade Kappo’s past contributions, the statement highlighted, “Comrade Kappo’s unwavering dedication to enhancing education and fostering a supportive environment for students in Nigeria has rightfully earned him this prestigious role.”
The union also took the opportunity to congratulate Comrade Kappo on his new position and reaffirmed its commitment to collaborate with his office to further the cause of education in Lagos State.
In a move to celebrate and propagate the educational strides made under Governor Sanwo-Olu’s leadership, AASU announced the inauguration of the “Babajide Sanwo-Olu Public Symposium on Quality Education in Africa.”
This annual event, set to take place in Lagos, aims to showcase the governor’s educational policies as a model for the continent.
Cde Olawale Kadri has been appointed to lead the Continental Standing Committee for the Symposium.
The statement concluded with a renewed expression of thanks to Governor Sanwo-Olu and warm congratulations to Comrade Kappo, stating, “Thank you, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for your visionary leadership in education. Congratulations, Comrade Kappo Samuel Olawale, on your well-deserved appointment.”
