Kogi State Embarks on Extensive Road Rehabilitation Initiative in 8 LGAs

In a significant move to improve infrastructure and enhance connectivity, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has sanctioned the rehabilitation of key roads across eight local government area (LGAs) of the state.

This decision aligns with his commitment to expanding the state’s rural electrification and road network, as promised during his campaign.

The governor’s directive includes a comprehensive overhaul of the State Road Maintenance Agency’s (KOGROMA) equipment.

Under the supervision of Engr. Yunusa Alhassan, Managing Director of KOGROMA, along with Engr. Bolaji Steven, Head of Civil, and Engr. Joel Ocheni, Head of Mechanicals, the agency has completed the refurbishment of all necessary equipment.

They are now poised for deployment to the various sites immediately following the Sallah holiday.

The roads slated for urgent attention are strategically located across different Local Government Areas (LGAs), reflecting the administration’s dedication to statewide development. The list includes:

  1. Egbe Township Road in Yagba West LGA.
  2. Idah Township Road in Idah LGA.
  3. Abejukolo Township Road in Omala LGA.
  4. Aiyetoro Township Road in Ijumu LGA.
  5. Felele-Agbaja Road in Lokoja LGA.
  6. Oguma Township Road in Bassa LGA.
  7. Anyigba Township Road in Dekina LGA.
  8. Mopa Township Road in Mopamuro LGA.

Governor Ododo’s administration has previously demonstrated a strong focus on infrastructural development, as evidenced by his inspection of the Obangede – Okaito – Ihima road and his emphasis on engaging local artisans in project execution.

Additionally, the state government has secured funding for the rehabilitation of 70 primary health centers, further showcasing the governor’s holistic approach to development.

This road rehabilitation project is expected to significantly enhance the quality of life for residents, facilitate economic activities, and promote the overall development of Kogi State.
