Nigeria Police Bolster Security Measures for Eid-el-Kabir Festivities, Releases Emergency Numbers
In anticipation of the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to public safety and security.
The IGP has ordered an enhanced deployment of personnel and resources to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for the festivities.
In a statement signed by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, the IGP Egbetokun directed Commissioners of Police in all states and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as their supervisory Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, to optimize the security framework in their jurisdictions.
The directive includes conducting high-visibility patrols on highways, residential areas, industrial zones, places of worship, and around critical national infrastructure.
The operations are to be carried out with utmost professionalism and respect for citizens’ rights, focusing on crime prevention without resorting to harassment or extortion.
The deployed officers are expected to maintain discipline and vigilance while on duty.
Extending warm wishes to the Muslim Umma for a happy and peaceful Sallah celebration, IGP Egbetokun emphasised the Force’s dedication to facilitating a joyous season for all.
He assured that the police will leverage all available resources, including collaboration with key stakeholders and other security agencies, to enhance service delivery and maintain nationwide stability.
The public was advised to follow security guidelines and traffic regulations during the celebrations to prevent any untoward incidents.

The police force said it plans to utilize all available assets and collaborate with relevant groups to stabilize security within the nation.
