NIWIIT Set for National Conference, AGM on Empowering Women in Tech in Osun

The Nigeria Women in Information Technology (NIWIIT) is set to host its 9th National Conference and 10th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Osogbo, Osun State.

With the theme “Empowering Women in Tech: Shaping the Future through Innovation and Collaboration,” this two-day event, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, 26th and 27th June 2024 in Osogbo, aims to bridge the digital gender gap and foster meaningful connections between industry, academia, and government.

As part of the key objectives, NIWIIT seeks to equip young girls and women with relevant digital skills, addressing the gender disparities prevalent in the tech sector.

The conference provides a premier platform for discussions, success stories, and strategies to overcome barriers faced by women in technology.

NIWIIT’s efforts align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations, emphasizing the importance of gender equality and technological advancement.

Providing insights in as statement, Mrs. Dele Bayo-Osibo, President of NIWIIT, said, “The NIWIIT, Annual Conference celebrates the crucial role women play in driving technological innovation, economic growth, and societal change. Despite significant progress, gender disparities remain in the tech sector, with women underrepresented in leadership, entrepreneurship, and technical fields”.

It added that as a professional and credible organization, NIWIIT will continue to advocate for a brighter, more equitable future.

Interested participants are expected to register for the conference and contribute to shaping the future of tech.
