Labour Party Dissolves in Isoko North, Boosts PDP Ahead of Delta LG Polls
As the campaign fervor for the July 13 Local Government Council elections in Delta State intensifies, a significant political development has occurred in Isoko North Local Government Area. The Labour Party (LP) has officially collapsed its entire structure into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The driving force behind this merger was Prince Oghenerioja Usie, the former House of Assembly candidate for the Isoko North State Constituency. At a campaign rally held at Ekwerigbe Primary School, Ozoro, Prince Usie facilitated the presentation of the party flag to the PDP Chairmanship candidate, Prince Godwin Ogorugba.
Explaining their decision, Prince Usie emphasized that the PDP was the dominant party in the area and the state. The LP members pledged to bring their collective strength across the wards to support Prince Ogorugba and all twenty councillorship candidates in the council area.
State Chairman of the PDP, Olorogun Kingsley Esiso, led the State Executive members of the party at the rally. He expressed confidence in Prince Ogorugba’s capacity, ability, and experience to deliver on the dividends of democracy as Council Chairman in Isoko North.
Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, Member Representing Isoko Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, echoed the sentiment that “PDP is Isoko, and Isoko is PDP.” He assured that the party would maintain its winning streak in Isoko North local government area.
Other prominent leaders, including Hon. Bernard Odior, Chief Kome Okpobor, Dr Paul Oweh, and Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor, reiterated their commitment to securing victory for the PDP in the upcoming election.
Prince Ogorugba, in his acceptance speech, thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the party leaders for selecting him as the party candidate. He pledged to deliver the dividends of democracy through his “GOD WINS” Agenda, aligned with Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda for the state.
The rally, marked by a mammoth crowd, signaled the PDP’s readiness to win the local government area election on July 13, 2024.
