Alleged Threat to Life: South East Group Calls for Protection of Zenith Labour Party Chairman, Chief Dan Nwanyanwu
The South East Revival Group (SERG) has expressed deep concerned about the safety of Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, the National Chairman of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), following a reported threat to his life by alleged agents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister.
The SERG Publicity Secretary, Hon Jude Idoko, in a statement said the regional socio-political pressure group was “taken aback when we read that to read about the unprovoked open threat to the life of our illustrious son and distinguished Nigerian by one Mr. Moses Emmanuel, a reported notorious Agent of the former Governor of Rivers State and now Minister of FCT, Chief Nyesom Wike.
“We condemn this brazen act of intimidation and call on the security agencies and the President Bola Tinubu administration to ensure that Chief Nwanyanwu is protected from harm. It is unacceptable that in a democratic nation like Nigeria, political opponents are resorting to threats and violence to silence dissenting voices.
“We urge the President to direct the security agencies to investigate this incident and provide Chief Nwanyanwu with adequate security to prevent any harm. We also call on the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to take immediate action to arrest and prosecute those behind this threat.
“The South East Revival Group will not accept any act by enemies of democracy and free speech aimed at silencing our leaders. We not only stand in solidarity with Chief Dan Nwanyanwu, but will hold the Federal Government accountable if the government does not take concrete steps to ensure his safety”, the SERG concluded.
