Kwara State Government Urges Waste Management Consultants to Step Up Performance

The Kwara State Government has charged commercial waste management consultants to be more proactive and committed to delivering quality services to the people of the state.

The State Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, made this charge during an emergency meeting with the Association of Waste Management Consultants, held at the Conference hall of the Ministry.

The Commissioner expressed dissatisfaction with the current performance of the consultants, particularly in Ilorin metropolis, where indiscriminate dumping of refuse has become a major concern.

She warned that if not addressed, this could lead to epidemics and other health hazards.Kwara State Government Urges Waste Management Consultants to Step Up Performance

Hajia Buge urged the consultants to be more responsive and make themselves available for patronage to sustain a clean and hygienic environment for healthy living.

She reiterated the commitment of the present administration, under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to prioritize the hygiene and well-being of the people, ensuring a clean and safe environment for residents.

The Commissioner emphasized that any consultant failing to meet the government’s expectations will face sanctions.

In his response, the Chairman of the Association of Waste Consultants, Alhaji Zakariyyu Tahir, appreciated Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his laudable and direct impact projects, including enforcing laws against road encroachment to ensure free movement of people and vehicles.

He reassured the state government of the Association’s unwavering support towards achieving a cleaner Kwara.

The meeting aimed to address the challenges facing waste management in the state and to find solutions to ensure a clean and healthy environment for the people of Kwara.
