Delta State Government Commences Rebuilding of Okuama Community Health Centre, Schools

The Delta State Government has begun the process of rebuilding the Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area, which was destroyed following the killing of 17 Army officers and soldiers in the community.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori made this announcement during a meeting with the leadership of Urhobo Council of Traditional Rulers and the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide at Government House, Asaba.

The Governor expressed gratitude to the Urhobo Traditional Rulers for their support and donation of food and relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Okuama community.

Governor Oborevwori appreciated the role played by the traditional rulers in maintaining peace in the state, particularly during the last Local Government election.

He sought their continued cooperation and support in addressing pockets of insecurity in the state, emphasizing the importance of information sharing with security agencies.

Earlier, HRM Solomon Okukeren III, representing the Chairman of the Urhobo Council of Traditional Rulers, expressed appreciation for the Governor’s accomplishments in his first year in office.

The Urhobo monarchs commended Governor Oborevwori for resolving the age-long crisis between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities, as well as the Okuama and Okoloba crisis.

This development marks a significant step towards rebuilding and restoring normalcy to Okuama community.

The Delta State Government’s commitment to reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts is a testament to its dedication to the well-being of its citizens.
