Sheriff Oborevwori, the government directed the Secretary to the State Government and the Commissioner for Finance to engage in talks with the State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) regarding the implementation of the new minimum wage.
This move is a clear indication of the government’s dedication to ensuring that its workers receive a fair and living wage, in line with the new national minimum wage policy. The talks between the government and the organized labour will focus on the consequential adjustments of the new wage, ensuring a smooth implementation process.
In addition to this, the EXCO meeting approved various infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the state’s road network and healthcare facilities.
These projects include the reconstruction of Ohoror-Bomadi Road, construction of Olomoro-Igbide Road, and the rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of failed sections of NNPC Housing Complex Road, among others.
The government’s investment in infrastructure development is expected to improve the state’s connectivity, facilitate economic growth, and enhance the overall quality of life for its citizens.
The government also approved the purchase of two Computerised Tomography (CT) scanning machines for the Central Hospital, Warri, and the Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH), Oghara.

Furthermore, the EXCO meeting approved the appointment of Obi Sunday Ubaka Ogboli as Obi of Issele-Mkpitime in Aniocha North Local Government Area and the payment of N3.55bn as counterpart funding for the 2024 Universal Basic Education Programme.
These approvals demonstrate the government’s commitment to education, traditional institutions, and community development.
Governor Oborevwori emphasized the need for programmes that would cushion the effect of the prevalent hardship in the country, especially on youths across the state.
He directed the Commissioner for Agriculture and the Chief Job Creation Officer to develop initiatives aimed at addressing this challenge, ensuring that the state’s youths are empowered and equipped to contribute meaningfully to the state’s economy.
