Police Uncover Hidden Ammunition, Arrest Woman With 124 Rounds OF Anti-aircraft Ammunition
In a shocking discovery, operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a woman, Hauwa Sani, in possession of 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition concealed in a gallon of palm oil. The arrest was made in Keffi, Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, on August 23, 2024.
According to a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Rahman Nansel, Hauwa Sani, a resident of Doro village in Katsina State, was intercepted by police operatives attached to Keffi Division at around 1710hrs. A two-year-old child was also found with her.
Upon searching the suspect, the police recovered 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition hidden in a gallon of palm oil, a Tecno mobile phone, and a cash sum of N78,500.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Hauwa Sani received the ammunition at Rafin Sanyi village in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State and was en route to Katsina State when she was arrested.
The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has ordered the transfer of the suspect and exhibits to the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters, Abuja, for further investigation.
The CP commended the officers and men of the command for their excellent work in uncovering the hidden ammunition.
This arrest highlights the efforts of the Nasarawa State Police Command in combating illegal possession and transportation of weapons in the state.
