Why APC Needs Yahaya Bello As National Chair – AASU President’s SSA, Comrade Onimisi Speaks
Comrade Otaru Muhammed Onimisi, a key student unionist and activist has identified the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, as proper and fit person for the National Chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement signed by Comrade Onimisi, a Senior Special Assistant to the President of the All-Africa Students Union (AASU), he described Bello as the “unifying force” APC needs to secure a bright future.
According to the statement, Bello’s proven track record of loyalty, commitment, and strategic acumen makes him the ideal candidate to lead APC as its National Chairman in due season.
He noted that Bello has consistently demonstrated his dedication to the party’s ideals and his ability to galvanize support across various demographics.
“Bello’s leadership has not only strengthened the party’s presence in his state but has also set a precedent for other leaders to emulate,” the statement said.
The unionist also dismissed the recent controversies surrounding Bello, particularly the allegations involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), as “politically motivated distractions” aimed at derailing his progress.
The statement emphasized that Bello’s commitment to transparency and accountability has been evident throughout his tenure, and that the allegations should not be allowed to overshadow his significant contributions to the party and the nation.
The AASU President’s aide urged the Federal Government and APC to recognize Bello’s leadership qualities and appoint him as the party’s National Chairman, saying it would be a strategic move to rejuvenate the party at a time when unity and strong leadership are needed more than ever.
“Bello’s appointment would send a powerful message to the party’s supporters and the nation at large—that APC values merit, loyalty, and proven leadership,” the statement said.
The continental student unionist concluded that Bello’s leadership would ensure that APC remains strong, united, and capable of delivering on its promises to the Nigerian people, and urged the party to take the next step by appointing him as its National Chairman.
