Delta State Acting Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, recently met with Kenya’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador Isaac Parashina, to discuss potential partnerships between the two nations.
The meeting focused on collaboration in key sectors to drive economic growth and cultural exchange.
Onyeme highlighted Delta State’s rich tourism potential, citing its lush vegetation and numerous scenic sites. He emphasized the state’s agricultural strengths, producing various crops, and its significant oil and gas deposits. The entertainment industry, particularly film and music production, was also identified as a promising area for cooperation.
“We are not only rich in oil and gas, but also in agriculture,” Onyeme noted. “Our state is a major agrarian society, and we believe there are opportunities for mutual benefit.” He welcomed Kenyan companies to explore investment opportunities in Delta State.
Ambassador Parashina expressed Kenya’s readiness to work with Nigeria, seeking areas of comparative advantage. He praised Delta State’s hospitality and cultural affinity with Kenya. “Africa is one,” he emphasized. “We are the same people divided by geography.”
The Ambassador’s visit was facilitated by the International Festival for Choral and Traditional Music held in Asaba. Christian Association of Nigeria President, Dr. Daniel Okoh, accompanied Parashina on the visit.
This potential partnership aims to foster economic growth, cultural exchange, and cooperation between Delta State and Kenya. With its receptive people and vast resources, Delta State is poised to attract investors and become a hub for regional development.
