Kwara State Cracks Down on Environmental Offenders, 200 Arraigned As Government Warns Residents to Shape Up
The Kwara State Government has intensified its efforts to enforce environmental laws, warning residents to comply or face consequences. This stern warning was issued by the state Commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge, during the monthly sanitation exercise held across the state.
Commissioner Buge expressed satisfaction with the improved level of compliance but emphasized the need for sustainability. She praised residents’ efforts but warned commercial motor parks violating sanitation laws to desist, noting that approximately 200 environmental offenders were apprehended and arraigned before mobile courts across the state’s 16 local government areas.
Despite public awareness campaigns, violations persist. The government will no longer tolerate environmental law violators, particularly commercial transporters. Security agencies and voluntary organizations were commended for their support.
Commissioner Buge urged residents to maintain efforts to make Kwara a pace-setter in environmental cleanliness. The government’s commitment to environmental sustainability is clear, and residents are advised to adhere strictly to sanitation laws.
The crackdown on environmental offenders demonstrates the government’s dedication to a clean and healthy environment, aligning with national efforts to promote environmental sustainability.
