TCN Boosts Power Supply to Northern Regions, Completes and Energizes 330KV Ugwuaji-Apir Transmission Line 2
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has achieved a major breakthrough in its efforts to restore power supply to the Northern regions, with the successful energization of the 330KV Ugwuaji-Apir Transmission Line 2. The line was energized at approximately 11:50 am on Thursday following the completion of repairs and stringing of damaged portions.
The restoration of the transmission line is expected to significantly improve power supply to the North East and North West, with Apir and Jos Transmission Substations already receiving loads. The Jos, Kaduna, Kano, and Yola Distribution Companies are set to benefit from the increased bulk power supply, enabling them to provide more electricity to their customers.
The 330KV Ugwuaji-Apir transmission lines had been out of service since October 21, due to vandalism, but with the repair and restoration of both lines, power supply to the region is expected to return to normal. The company has expressed appreciation for the patience and understanding of electricity customers in the Northern axis, who were affected by the incident.
The successful energization of the transmission line demonstrates TCN’s commitment to maintaining a reliable and efficient transmission network.
The company remains dedicated to providing a stable power supply to meet the growing demands of the nation, and this achievement marks a significant step towards achieving that goal. With both lines now operational, customers in the Northern regions can expect a substantial improvement in their power supply.
