South East Revival Group Calls for Increased Support for Indigenous Contractors
The South East Revival Group (SERG) has issued a passionate appeal to the governors of the South East region, urging them to enhance their support for indigenous contractors. This call to action, articulated in a press release signed by Hon. Agu Chineme, the group’s Publicity Secretary, emphasizes the need to empower local contractors to foster job creation and stimulate economic growth in the region.
In the press release, SERG commended the governors of Anambra, Enugu, and Abia states for their proactive measures in supporting indigenous contractors. “We commend the governors of Anambra, Enugu, and Abia states for their commitment to patronizing indigenous contractors,” the release stated. Highlighting recent developments, the group noted, “Anambra State awarded the contract for the dualization of Nwagu Agulu-Nnobi-Nnewi-Ozubulu-Okija Road to Lebtech Construction Ltd and Ferotex Construction Company Limited, while Enugu State awarded the dualization of the Penoks-Abakpa-Ugwogo-Opi-Nsukka Road to COMAG Construction Company.”
Ferotex Construction Company Limited, a prominent indigenous firm founded in 1993, was particularly praised for its contributions. The press release emphasized, “Ferotex has deployed qualified, trained, experienced personnel, and equipment for execution of projects in other parts of the country, including states like Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja and always delivered on projects within deadlines.”
SERG underscored the broader impact of supporting indigenous contractors, stating, “By supporting indigenous contractors, these governors are boosting economic development and creating employment opportunities for residents.” The group encouraged other South East governors to follow this example, recognizing the potential of indigenous contractors to drive regional growth and development.
This initiative aligns with SERG’s broader vision for regional security and economic integration. The group reiterated its previous calls, noting, “SERG has previously advocated for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and urged the federal government to address the region’s security concerns.”
In conclusion, the South East Revival Group highlighted the critical role of empowering indigenous contractors in driving economic growth and job creation in the South East region. “By supporting local businesses, governors can stimulate development and improve the lives of their constituents,” the release concluded.
