Kogi State Governor Hails Security Agencies for Restoring Peace to Troubled Bagana Communities
Kogi State Governor, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, has commended the troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Bagana, Omala Local Government Area, for restoring peace to the communities. The governor’s visit to the FOB on November 25, 2024, demonstrated his administration’s commitment to securing the lives and properties of Kogi State residents.
Governor Ododo praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the establishment of the FOB, which has significantly improved security in Bagana and its environs. The governor also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of security agencies in restoring peace to the area.
The crisis between Agatu and suspected herdsmen from Benue State had led to the displacement of thousands of people in Bagana and the destruction of properties worth billions of naira. However, with the establishment of the FOB, the community is gradually returning to normalcy.
Residents of Bagana, including Apostle Peace Peter Simion and Chief Halimat Abu, have expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for his decisive actions in restoring peace to the community. They have also appealed to the state government to prioritize the rebuilding of affected communities and provide basic healthcare, market, and educational facilities.
The commander of 12 Brigade, Brigadier O.A Fadairo, appreciated Governor Ododo for creating an enabling environment for the FOB to operate properly. Today, normalcy has returned to the deserted town of Bagana, and marketing operations have fully commenced.
