Ethnicity Blurs One’s Legacy As A Leader And Defaces Their Good Intentions In The Face Of Unwarranted Discrimination AND Seclusion
“There Are A Million Ways A Governor Helps His Tribesmen Especially Those Who Are Competent Without Those Of Other Tribes Raising A Finger In A Democracy”
“No right-thinking persons or individuals can undermine the decisions of the Governor at any given time, whoever the person, and hope to enjoy his confidence, none. The Governor has the power to hire and fire anyone. Therefore, the Governor should not listen to opportunists on a rampage whose stratagem often creates fear to invite tension, all of which to attract attention to himself where vulnerability exists. The Governor rather should go for those individuals or persons who are capable of giving him what is in his mind to achieve in his time as Governor of Cross River regardless of where the person is from. Otherwise, there would be no justification for why the people of the entire state chose him against the PDP candidate.”
“I am pretty sure that those within Nigeria and particularly in Cross-river are familiar with the genesis of all that went into the fight to contain the intrigues and shenanigans of those in our party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in whose hands was the authority to allow the current Governor of the state, Prince Bassey Otu the passage to test his popularity in the highly contested state elections in the year of the Lord 2023, to become Governor. I also mentioned acts of generosity which were not limited to those of his tribe or constituency mainly but cut across the state. The message sank and gained ground amongst the preponderance of our desirous people who were looking for bailouts from a directionless leadership of the previous administration shrouded in secrecy over which my message offered a residuum.” Obi Ojage
To begin my expression of a near vexatious issue about which I have slated to discuss here in brief concerning my state of Cross-river, I wish to first salute all great friends of mine, both men, women and youths, numbering over sixty thousand (60, 000) and still counting all over the human world who take time out to read my episodes and political stories here. I cannot but thank you all for all the compliments I receive. They’re indeed animating all to the glory of the Lord who operates in the void as a Ghost and Holy.
I also wish to urge those in Nigeria to join me, especially in thanking Mother Nature, the idea of everything, for being very fair to Nigeria, my country with zero cases of disaster recorded, unlike other parts of human earth. And so too with the Lord, the source of human existence, for being so merciful, especially in persuading our souls not to leave our bodies yet in the form we now exist into another for a different location in protest against the many atrocities committed to them in our different bodies due to the futile nature of our thoughts.
I am pretty sure that those within Nigeria and particularly in Cross-river are familiar with the genesis of all that went into the fight to contain the intrigues and shenanigans of those in our party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in whose hands was the authority to allow the current Governor of the state, Prince Bassey Otu the passage to test his popularity in the highly contested state elections in the year of the Lord 2023, to become Governor.
The contest was between Prince Otu of the APC against Barrister Nyosom Wike’s candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) then, Senator Sandy Ojang Onor against whom I fought to a standstill in our battle of words in the media, would recall that all through those periods I consistently highlighted certain qualities in the candidacy of Otu which were grossly absent in the attitude, life and nature of his opponent Onor, the benefits of which I did assure cross riverian would usher in a new era of leadership if our candidate is elected into power as Governor of the state.
Amongst those aspects of what I was emphatic about spreading was my candidate’s stay abroad, especially in Great Britain, where he had lived for many years. That meant he is not daft neither is he a local bread or one with ego problems; as such, he is not parochial and never would he entertain primitive ideas for whatever it’s worth.
I also talked about our candidates’ broadmindedness and accessibility. This means that he accommodates everyone regardless of who or where they hail, especially those from Cross-river, which earned him the nickname of “Sweet Prince” throughout his two times in the House of Representatives and a term at the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
I also mentioned acts of generosity which were not limited to those of his tribe or constituency mainly but cut across the state. The message sank and gained ground amongst the preponderance of our desirous people who were looking for bailouts from a directionless leadership of the previous administration shrouded in secrecy over which my message offered a residuum.
I wonder why those tribes’ men who were sceptical then and overtly showed indifference to his ambition of becoming a governor at the inception and up to the primaries where they spurred out many unpalatable words to support their assertions about his deficiencies and nonsuitability, are now they one’s trying to bread confusion for purely selfish reasons. Such a scheme should not be allowed to fly and should be ignored outrightly by men with conscience.
The state is small and highly neated to accommodate such a wild win that promises no more good for anyone now than those whose only stake in it is their stomach.
It is based on these ugly scenarios that I wish to admonish our dear Governor, Prince Bassey Otu, to be wary of those who are persuading him to show indifference to the feelings and plight of Indigenous Cross-river persons based on ethnicity, as all cross-Riverians are his subjects and should be given equal opportunities based on need, relevance and where they are found to be qualified.
This group of persons or family members who are pressing for such a primitive approach or agitating for that style of governance do not mean well for him or have they an idea of the danger of what precedence they’re incorporating into our system, for who he is and the circumstances that brought him into power. They’re consequences of any ill act, especially those that create division rather than build.
His, being the current Governor of the state, assuredly covers all that} his friends or ethnic group Efik had envisioned or ever would have bargained for; therefore, they shouldn’t turn him into a cannon fodder or make him appear as one with no sense of his own.
Man’s heart is evil; it does not matter his affinity. There isn’t any guarantee that those who are suggesting an outright exclusion of others are not doing so for reasons which are clandestine and perfidious other than the solidarity in support of one’s kinsmen so claim.
No right-thinking persons or individuals can undermine the decisions of the Governor at any given time, whoever the person, and hope to enjoy his confidence, none.
Otherwise, there would be no justification for why the people of the entire state chose him against the PDP candidate.
Again, as suggestions persist in gossip form amongst Cross-Riverians, the questions to ask are many. For instance what difference would the government of Otu be from that of his predecessor, Professor Ben Ayade who traded that part but in a different manner in complete isolation from those highly patriotic and qualified indigenes who were ready and capable of helping him succeed in bringing meaningful development to the state other than the bunch of lies that characterised his tenure evident in what the eyes can now see clearly that he did nothing compared to the huge funds that accrued to the state confers in his time?
And that is what Cross-Riverians know the past Governor of the state for. I don’t think anyone who truly loves Prince, as they assert by mouth, should wish him that of what is seen to be gaining ground and taking a form like a ravening fire, the question to ask shall be, who shall it bear, ke ini iso, Mme mma, ye ete?
