Attorney-General Vows To Jail Traditional Rulers Involved In Land Grabbing
The Ondo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, has issued a stern warning to traditional rulers involved in land grabbing, stating that those found culpable will face prosecution and imprisonment.
Dr. Ajulo’s warning was in reaction to the Anti-Land Grabbing Bill currently before the Ondo State House of Assembly. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, the Attorney General emphasized the government’s determination to eradicate land grabbing and warned that traditional rulers involved in this unlawful activity will be prosecuted.
“Some traditional rulers will go to jail,” Dr. Ajulo declared. His statement underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the issue of land grabbing, which has been a persistent problem in the state.
The Anti-Land Grabbing Bill, which is currently before the state assembly, aims to prevent the forceful takeover of landed properties and to protect the rights of landowners. The bill is a significant step towards addressing the issue of land grabbing, and the Attorney General’s warning to traditional rulers is a clear indication of the government’s determination to enforce the law.
Dr. Ajulo’s warning is also a reminder to traditional rulers of their responsibilities and the need to respect the rights of landowners. It is expected that the warning will serve as a deterrent to those who may be tempted to engage in land grabbing and will help to promote a sense of justice and fairness in the state.
