The Oyo State government has chosen to use concrete pavement on a section of the Zion plaza-Olusoji road, which connects to the Alao-Akala expressway in Ibadan. This decision follows the destruction of the asphalt surface by floods. Mr. Busoye Ogunlade, Chairman of the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA), highlighted the completion of the rigid pavement construction at the Olusoji cross culvert approaches. He noted, “The use of reinforced concrete technology would end pavement failures caused by floods and years of infrastructural neglect.” Ogunlade praised the quality of work on the 145-meter section of the road, reassuring residents that “the solution proffered was permanent.” The construction took two weeks and will require a four-week curing period, leading to a temporary road closure from September 28th to November 9th, 2024. Commuters are advised to use alternative routes during this period. Ogunlade apologized for any inconvenience caused.
