Hon. Stephen Abraham Ajiya Calls for Urgent Action Following Tragic Suleja/Dikko Fire Incident, Condoles Affected Families

In a heartfelt condolences to bereaved families, Hon. Stephen Abraham Ajiya, an aspirant for the position of National Vice Chairman, North Central Zone, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed his deep sorrow over the recent Suleja/Dikko tanker explosion incident.

The tragedy at Dikko junction in Niger State, a road linking Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja, to the northern city of Kaduna, which claimed the lives of over 86 people and left many others injured, has prompted Ajiya to call for immediate government action to prevent future occurrences.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic Suleja/Dikko fire incident that claimed the lives of over 86 people and left many others with various degrees of injuries,” Ajiya stated. “My heart goes out to the families of the victims, and I pray that God grants them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”

Ajiya emphasized the alarming frequency of such incidents on Nigerian highways and stressed the collective responsibility to demand urgent action from the federal government. “As an aspirant for the position of National Vice Chairman, North Central, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), I am compelled to speak out on this matter,” he said. “The frequency of such incidents on our highways is alarming, and it is our collective responsibility to demand urgent action from the federal government.”

In his reaction, Ajiya outlined specific measures he believes the government should take to enhance road safety and prevent future tragedies. “I am calling on the federal government to take immediate measures to prevent such tragedies in the future,” he urged. “Firstly, I urge the government to increase the number of Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) officials on Nigerian highways. This will help to ensure that our roads are safer and more secure for all users.”

Ajiya also highlighted the importance of completing critical infrastructure projects, such as the Abuja-Kaduna highway, to alleviate the suffering of motorists. “Furthermore, I appeal to the government to hasten the completion of the Abuja-Kaduna highway,” he said. “This critical infrastructure project has been ongoing for several years, and its completion will greatly reduce the suffering of motorists plying the highway.”

Reflecting on the devastating impact of the Suleja/Dikko fire incident, Ajiya called for concrete steps to address the root causes of such incidents. “The loss of lives and property in the Suleja/Dikko fire incident is a stark reminder of the need for urgent action,” he stated. “I urge the federal government to take concrete steps to address the root causes of these incidents and ensure that our highways are safe and secure for all.”

Hon. Ajiya extended his condolences to the families of the victims and offered prayers for their strength during this difficult time. “Once again, I offer my condolences to the families of the victims and pray that God grants them the strength to bear this difficult time,” he concluded.
