The Chairman of Arise News and Thisday Newspaper, Olorogun Obaigbena has honored the Head of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, with the prestigious Woman of the Year Award in celebration of their 30th anniversary.

Dr. Olorogun Obaigbena presented the award to Dr. Okonjo-Iweala, who is widely regarded as one of Africa’s most resilient and formidable leaders award on January 24, 2025, at Davos .

During the presentation, the Chairman of Arise News described Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as an extraordinary African leader who is proudly carrying the African flag on the global stage, demonstrating that the continent is rising.

“To the glory of God, it is an honor and privilege, on behalf of our audiences and readers around the world, to present this award in commemoration of our 30th anniversary,” He said. “We are celebrating the tough and resilient spirit embodied by Hon. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.”

He continued, “It is a privilege to present the 2024 End-of-Year Award to the Head of the World Trade Organization, Rt. Hon. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, as the Woman of the Year.”

In her response, Rt. Hon. Okonjo-Iweala expressed her gratitude for being chosen for the award and emphasized that she would not take it lightly. “This is very special, and I will not take this award lightly. I promise to continue doing my best in representing both my country and the African continent, ensuring that the dividends of development reach everyone,” she remarked.
