The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has received the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Division 6 Nigerian Army and Land Component of the Joint Task Force South-South Operation Delta Safe, in his office in Government House, Yenagoa.

Welcoming the new GOC and his team yesterday, Governor Diri, acknowledged the need for a cordial working relationship between the military and the State Government in order to deliver the true dividends of democracy to the people.

“It’s very important to note that a government is not complete when you have security agencies who are not working with the government. It means that we are reverting to the days of anarchy. But we are happy here that we work in partnership, in synergy, and collaboration with the military, all paramilitary outfits, and the Nigerian police.

“And so we are happy to have you, work with us and we can assure you that in whichever way the State Government will support, we will continue to support the Nigerian Army, the 6 division, and the 16 Brigade that is here with us in Bayelsa State. So you are welcome, see Bayelsa as your home”, Governor Diri assured.
