The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has condemned the tragic loss of students from Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State, who died in a ghastly motor accident. In a statement, NANS National Ex Officio I, Comrade Muniretu Isah, extended “deepest condolences to the students and management of Federal University Lokoja” and urged them to “remain strong and resilient in the face of this tragedy.”
NANS also commiserated with the families of the deceased, assuring them of their support during this difficult time.
“We urge the students and management of the university to remain strong and resilient in the face of this tragedy. We also commiserate with the aggrieved families and assure them of our support during this difficult time.
“Furthermore, we call on the Kogi State Government to take immediate action to address the perennial problem of accidents on Felele Road, Lokoja.
“This is not the first time a brutal accident has occurred on this road, and it is imperative that the government takes concrete steps to prevent future occurrences,” Comrade Isah stated. NANS emphasized that the wellness and safety of Nigerian students are their primary concern, and they will not sit idly by while their members are exposed to danger.
NANS, therefore, demanded that the Kogi State Government takes proactive measures to ensure the safety of students and other road users on Felele Road. As the organization reiterated, “We will not sit idly by while our members are exposed to danger.” Once again, NANS commiserated with the families of the deceased and the entire university community, saying “May the souls of the departed rest in peace.”
