Two Giants’ Fall: Northern Senators Forum Pays Glowing Tribute to Late Chief Edwin Clark and Pa Ayo Adebanjo

The Northern Senators Forum has extended its deepest condolences to the families of two revered elder statesmen, Chief Edwin Clark and Pa Ayo Adebanjo, who passed away on February 17 and 14, 2025, respectively.
Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yara’dua, Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum, described the duo as “beacons of hope, consistency, and resilience” in their commitment to Nigeria’s unity and progress.
The Forum acknowledged their contributions to the country’s development, saying, “Their contributions to the country’s development, through their various roles in public service, will be remembered and cherished forever”.
Chief Edwin Clark’s 97-year lifespan was a testament to his dedication to the Ijaw Nation, Niger Delta, and Nigeria, having served as a Federal Cabinet Minister and Distinguished Senator.
The Northern Senators Forum opined that Clark’s leadership and vision inspired generations, and his passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt.
Senator Yara’dua also extended condolences to Pa Adebanjo’s family, describing him as a “shining example of selfless service, patriotism, and commitment to the principles of justice, equity, and federalism”.
Adebanjo’s legacy as a nationalist and leader of the Afenifere will continue to inspire and guide Nigerians, Senator Yara’dua added.
The Northern Senators Forum conveyed its heartfelt position to honor the memory of both elder statesmen and celebrate their lives while mourning their passing.
Senator Yara’dua prayed for their souls to rest in peace and for their families to be comforted in the knowledge that both elder statesmen impacted the nation.
The passing of Chief Edwin Clark and Pa Ayo Adebanjo has been widely mourned, by expressing their deep sorrow over their loss.
