In a statement signed by Arch Bello Muhammad, the National Secretary of the Not Too Young To Perform (NTYTP), the non-governmental organisation (NGO) extended heartfelt greetings to Distinguished Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and resilient Nigerian women across the globe on the occasion of the International Women’s Day.
The NTYTP lauded Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan as a trailblazer in women and youth development advocacy, commending her for setting a high standard of quality representation at all levels. The organization emphasized that her contributions deserve recognition and celebration.
Expressing concern over the challenges faced by women in leadership, the NTYTP criticized the Senate leadership for perpetuating gender stereotypes and injustice against women representatives in the National Assembly.
The statement declared, “Enough is enough,” asserting that no woman should face penalties for striving to deliver quality representation, accountability, and democratic dividends to her constituents and the nation.
The NTYTP called on stakeholders at all levels of government to defend democracy against individuals who prioritise personal gains over institutional integrity. The NGO stressed that no one should be above the law in a just society.
Concluding the statement, the NTYTP extended its prayers to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and all women making significant contributions to Nigeria, both at home and abroad. The NGO then wished all Nigerian women a happy International Women’s Day, celebrating their resilience and achievements.
