Renewed Hope Initiative: NDE Empowers Trained Beneficiaries in Oyo State

Determined to reduce the menace of unemployment and promote economic development in the country, the National Directorate of Employment, NDE, has empowered the trained beneficiaries under the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration.

Speaking at the Resettlement/ Closing Ceremony for beneficiaries in Ibadan, Oyo State, the NDE Director General, His Excellency, Dr. Silas Agara who was represented by the State Coordinator, NDE Oyo State, Mrs Steve-Ogundipe Olayinka, said that the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative was designed to create employment opportunities, support the establishment of small-scale enterprises, promote agricultural productivity, improve rural infrastructure and provide transient jobs, which would in-turn foster economic growth and empower our communities.

The NDE DG, pointed out that the Employment Initiative was built on three core pillars which includes Skills Development which aims at providing training and mentorship opportunities, the agency equip unskilled and unemployed persons with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the modern work and small scale business environment.Renewed Hope Initiative: NDE Empowers Trained Beneficiaries in Oyo State

On resettlement, the NDE provided beneficiaries with loan facilities, access to finance, starter packs as the Directorate hopes to support the establishment of nano, micro and small scale enterprises.

On job Creation, the Directorate is to work with local businesses, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders to create new job opportunities, stimulate innovation, and drive economic growth.

He noted that the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative commenced with a Flag-Off Ceremony on 6th December, 2024, while training of selected beneficiaries started on 9th December, 2024 and added that over the past three months, the Directorate had successfully trained Thirty-Three Thousand, Six Hundred and Ninety-Two (33,692) unemployed Nigerian youths, women and Persons Living with Disabilities in-demand skills across Vocational Skills training, Entrepreneurship and Business Management training, Agricultural Skills Training and activities within the Public Works sector in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

This initiative he further explained culminated into the launching of resettlement of the trained beneficiaries, the goal of which is to empower participants to become not only self-employed but employers of labour.Renewed Hope Initiative: NDE Empowers Trained Beneficiaries in Oyo State

The NDE boss added that a total number of Five Thousand Five Hundred and Thirty-Two (5,532) beneficiaries will be resettled with loans and starter packs nationwide to enable the establishment of their own businesses.

He thanked the Ministers of Labour and Employment, the Legislators, public and private sector organizations, State and Local Governments for their immense support which led to the actualization of the shared goal of job creation and economic growth.

Also speaking, the NDE Zonal Director, South-west zone, Mrs. Lanre- Ogun Folashade Omobola, said the event marks a significant milestone in the collective efforts to address unemployment and promote economic development.Renewed Hope Initiative: NDE Empowers Trained Beneficiaries in Oyo State

According to her, the initiative underscores the country’s commitment to creating a brighter future for all, where everyone has access to meaningful work and opportunities for growth.

The zonal Director pointed out that the initiative would not have been possible without the collaboration and support of our partner.

The Oyo State Government and ALGON Chairman who was represented at the event by Hon. Oladebo Simple, charged the beneficiaries to use the opportunity given to them to establish themselves in businesses that would engineer growth, drive economic development and build a brighter future for their communities.
