In a bid to extend compassion and support to the less privileged, At-Tawakkul Islamic Charity Organisation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) dedicated to philanthropic activities, on Wednesday paid a humanitarian visit to the Nigerian Correctional Service at Kosere, Ile-Ife, Osun State.

During the visit, the organisation donated essential items, including foodstuffs, toiletries, groceries, and other necessities, to inmates as part of its ongoing commitment to improving the welfare of the vulnerable.

The donation was aimed at providing relief and fostering hope among the inmates, particularly those observing the Ramadan fast.

Led by its Chairman, Ustadh Sulaiman Gboyelade, alongside other executives and members of the organisation, the delegation was warmly received by officials of the Correctional Service.

The visit provided a unique opportunity for the organisation to interact with the Muslim inmates, offering not only material support but also spiritual encouragement.

Addressing the inmates, Ustadh Gboyelade narrated the inspiring story of Prophet Yusuf (Joseph) — how he was falsely accused, imprisoned, and eventually vindicated.

He urged the inmates not to despair but to place their trust in Allah, who has the power to change any situation.

He further encouraged them to use the holy period of Ramadan, especially the Laylatul Qadr (Night of Decree), to fervently seek forgiveness and divine favour.

“Prophet Yusuf was once in prison, but he never lost hope. He remained patient, and in the end, Allah elevated him. I urge you all to remain steadfast in your faith and trust in Allah. No condition is permanent. Use this period to pray for forgiveness and guidance,” Gboyelade admonished.

In response, the inmates expressed profound gratitude to At-Tawakkul Islamic Charity Organisation for the visit and the generous donations.

They also appealed for continuous visitation, noting that such gestures not only provide physical relief but also strengthen their spiritual well-being.

“We are deeply grateful for your visit and the support you have shown us today. It is comforting to know that we are not forgotten. We hope you continue to remember us in your prayers and through visits like this,” one of the inmates said.

In addition to its outreach at the Correctional Centre, the organisation also extended its charitable activities to Aisha Mosque in Ita-Oosa, Ile-Ife, where it donated food items to Muslims observing I’tikaf (spiritual retreat) during Ramadan.

This gesture, according to the Chairman, was part of the organisation’s commitment to supporting religious observances and promoting communal well-being.

At-Tawakkul Islamic Charity Organisation remains steadfast in its mission to empower widows, support orphans, and engage in philanthropic activities that promote healthcare, education, and community development.

The organisation reiterated its commitment to continuously support vulnerable members of society and called on other well-meaning individuals and groups to contribute towards uplifting the downtrodden.
