In a momentous ceremony held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, officially decorated Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Gyogon Augustine Grimah, psc, FCAI, AIG Zone 10 Sokoto, alongside other newly promoted senior officers.
The occasion, attended by dignitaries, colleagues, and family members, underscored the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to recognize excellence and leadership within its ranks.
AIG Gyogon Augustine Grimah, an accomplished officer hailing from Nasarawa State, received the honor in the presence of his wife and other family members, who proudly assisted in the ceremony. Dr. Egbetokun’s recognition of AIG Grimah’s contributions is a testament to the officer’s unwavering dedication and professional expertise over three decades of service.
A Stellar Career of Service and Leadership
Assistant Inspector General Grimah’s journey in the Nigeria Police Force began in May 1992, when he was enlisted as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (C/ASP) and trained at the Police Academy Annex in Kaduna. Since then, his distinguished career has spanned multiple strategic roles and postings, including positions in operations, investigation, administration, and capacity development.
AIG Grimah has served in various states and units across the nation, contributing to law enforcement efforts with unrelenting commitment. His roles have ranged from Divisional Police Officer in Katsina State to Staff Officer at the Federal Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja, among many others.
In recent years, he held key leadership positions, such as Commandant at Police Secondary School in Calabar and Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, before being appointed as the 24th Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone 10 Police Headquarters, Sokoto.
A Vision for Zone 10 Police Command
With an extensive background in police operations, investigation, and administration, AIG Grimah brings a wealth of experience to Zone 10. During the ceremony, he pledged to leverage his expertise in tackling the pressing security challenges facing the region. His vision encompasses enhanced operational efficiency and robust strategies to curb criminal activities across the zone.
The Inspector-General of Police applauded AIG Grimah’s exemplary service and emphasized the importance of the newly promoted officers in advancing the mission of the Nigeria Police Force to maintain peace and security nationwide.
