Another feather has been added to the glowing cap of the Special Adviser to Governor Bassey Otu on Security (NORTH), Comptroller Joseph Ochelebe as the University of Jos Alumni Association, Paradise Chapter, has honored him for his outstanding contributions to society and his alma mater.
This honor is conferred on alumni who have achieved professional recognition for exemplary performance and whose extraordinary achievements have enhanced the image of the University.
Presenting the award on Tuesday in Calabar, given at various times during each year, allow the Association to pay tribute to alumni members who have distinguished themselves and/or provided notable service to the University, Mr. Freedom Ijom, the Association’s outgoing chairman, commended the honoree for his unwavering commitment to the Paradise Chapter, noting that his achievements serve as an inspiration to other alumni, as well as a call for greater service to humanity.
In his remarks, Comptroller Joe Ochelebe expressed humility, stating that he did not feel deserving of the recognition but accepted it as an encouragement to remain committed to the Paradise Chapter.
He reminisced about his leadership experience in the UNIJOS Student Parliament, where he was mentored by Labaran Maku, and credited the University of Jos for instilling humility and leadership skills in him. He reassured the association of his dedication to its growth and development.
The event also featured Joseph Inaku Emeka, the first Cross Riverian graduate of UNIJOS, who emphasized the importance of mentorship and alumni support, stressing that true success is measured by how well one uplifts the next generation.
Also honored are Prof. Florence Banku Obi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar and Chief Godwin Iyala, Director General of the Cross River State Health Insurance Agency.
Ochelebe’s recognition adds to his catalogue of accolades, affirming his status as a great Alumnus of the University of Jos who recognized for his achievements and contributions to the association and the institution.
